The Club originally ran intermittently at the Fox Hollies Forum before moving to the Waggon & Horses. It finished at the Fox and Horses on Feb 4th 1974, and presumably moved to the Bierkellar, but no ads were found at this venue until March 1975. However, ads have also been found for the club at the Kings Head for February 7th 1974, with the club running on a Thursday rather than a Monday. It is not clear at this time if it ran at two different premises on different days or not. Early on in the club's life tom Cordery and Dave Edwards started a regional folk magazine called "Midlands Folk", produced on Toms photocopier about 6 times a year (cover price 10p). It covered folk club and events listings, record & gig reviews and all the usual things that folk magazines of that era published.. two fledgling bands were formed at the club, the United Truss Jug band and the Razzle Dazzle Gatemouth Spasm String Band, the latter being made up of Jim Allen Neil Burnett, Dave Edwards, Simon Cordery, (later replaced by Ted Williams) and Pete Lewis, which lasted for around 6 years.
