The Boggery was started by Les Ward & Jasper Carrott in February 1969. Jasper was a resident at the club and during the early years of the club , honed his act which eventually launched him into stardom. An interview with Jasper was done by Albert Jago for a local folk magazine called Midlands Folk (previously the Greenwood Folk Magazine), this can be seen below. 

One of the later resident bands when the club was at the Malt Shovel in Solihull was Riff Raff (Jem Patterson, Phil Ferrar, Alison Bromilow and Angus Grant), a picture of the group can be seen below.
